Cyber Essentials Checklist

I’ve been spending some time reviewing the Cyber Essentials checklist to better understand my current level of digital protection, and it’s been an eye-opening experience. The checklist breaks down key areas like firewalls, secure configuration, user access control, malware protection, and patch management, which really helps me see where I might be overlooking simple but important practices. For example, I realised that I wasn’t always consistent with updating software or setting strong access permissions, which can leave gaps in security that I may not even notice. Following the Cyber Essentials checklist has given me a clear framework to measure my current setup and make practical improvements without feeling overwhelmed. It also makes me think more carefully about the way I handle data, especially when it comes to protecting personal and sensitive information. I like how it simplifies the complex world of cybersecurity into actionable steps I can actually implement rather than vague advice. Working through it feels less like a technical exercise and more like building good habits that keep me and my work safe online.
